Colors… they add beauty to the landscape, provide camouflage, appeal for mating, attraction for insects, give a hint at health, and cause associations with other objects. The color of my lingerie made me think of fireweed.

The official state flower of Alaska is the forget-me-not. Its tiny blue flowers decorate summer meadows with low lying growth.

The unofficial state flower is fireweed. Its vibrant blooms are a fuchsia color. They are the first plants to quickly spread across barren land after wildfires. Fireweed covers devastated land coloring it with new life through a stunning show of tenacious rejuvenation. No wonder it’s earned an honorary title … 🔥 🌺☀️

Have you ever wanted to be known for something that impresses others? To do something that makes you stand out from the crowd (in a good way). Something that showcases how hard you work, the way you go the extra mile, and give your very best. Surely we all want that, but few are able to really achieve it. I wanted my plank challenge to be impressive, but I don’t know that it had the effect and impact that I was really going for? I also wanted to keep it going for longer, but even something designed to be a good thing may not be as well received as intended. I am proud of the duration I was able to deliver my plank videos. It’s nice to not have a difficult plank to do each week, but it feels a little sad to not have it to do, too.

What I am proud of is how the fans of mine who chose to support me showed up and showed out! You guys encouraged me to keep going even when things got really tough! You all kept me excited about the challenge and praised me for my strength. The plank challenge has come to a close, but it deserves some recognition as an event that lasted longer than many social platform ideas. 😆 What I do still get to look forward to is rewarding those who rewarded me each week for a total of 45 weeks!!!! 😉😍😘💜

Even if you were unable to support with tips I felt so much love and attention from many. I hope all of my fans will go to @oftv to check out the final episode by following the link below. Every now and then my life gets to feeling a little repetitive, maybe a little boring, but I love it and parts of it are a dream come true. Literally, I used to dream about the day I had my own farm. I don’t take it for granted, but it’s become so normal to do my chores that I do have to remind myself that some people are still wishing for their wants.

Those are the days we might feel like we are struggling a little, but we just dig in and continue with the hope and foresight to know that what goes up must come down, and then momentum can carry us up again.

Today is busy, busy, busy for me, but I took a little time to do a photo session this morning before breakfast. I was thinking I need a new centerpiece for my dining room table … and I was checking out the space. Turns out my table is sturdy with plenty of room for a centerpiece as tall or as long as about 5’3” 😆🤭

I find that I feel the best when I take time, I mean make an effort, and go to the places that give me a sense of wonder, feelings of peace, and reasons to explore.

While I was at the beach this meant setting my alarm and going out during the quiet of early, early morning. If you want to see things that others have missed, then maybe it’s because you aren’t looking when they aren’t.

Find your time, the time that is yours and seek the ones who might want just you and you alone. Step out and away from the crowd if that’s what it takes to feel alive. Sometimes you can’t find what you’re looking for if you’re stuck in the middle of normal hours and surrounded by lots of people.

Set yourself apart and then the things you want most can finally find you. 💜

I’m not sure there is any experience quite like raising a foal. It’s hard to describe it as anything less than witnessing a dream come to life. Astro is special for reasons beyond what I’ll share here, but as I watch him grow I see it all unfolding. He is not only growing in size, but developing into a wiser, yet more curious horse with age. He gives my life added purpose and trusts me with his safety. Yesterday he followed me onto the trailer just as he’s done since I taught him to load as a foal. For the first time I took it a step further and trailered him off property. It was gratifying watching him handle the unknown noises and the feeling of riding within a metal box on tires with confidence and poise. He shows me how animals and humans can communicate without being able to speak. It could be that horses and humans who find a connection may share trust in its truest form. My heart feels like he is something extra special. I know we have a fun future to look forward to together. 😍

Horses require about 2% of their body weight in forage per day. For an average 1,000 lb horse that is 20 lbs of forage per day. When pastures start to shut down for winter and/or grass quality declines from environmental factors, such as a summer drought, army worms, overgrazing, etc, then supplemental options must be provided. 🌾 💜🐎

It’s an added chore, but necessary. My horses are some of my best friends and they are worth it. 🥰

Focus … can be difficult to maintain. In a world full of electronics, the normalization of busyness, and the noise of life constantly buzzing all around us, our attention can be easily diverted. If maintaining razor-sharp focus were simple, then we could all be elite athletes, brilliant philosophers, or flawless idealists.

As it turns out, any of us can lose focus on what we want in life, the things that matter most, or how we can get to where we want to go.

Luckily for us, focus can be regained if we can take time to identify and acknowledge when it was lost. Do you need to take some time to shift your focus? I do sometimes. 💜🧘🏼‍♀️

📍Do you all remember when I was doing my plank challenge? I am embarrassed to say that I kind of just ended it … by having (or letting?) life interfere with what I had going on here. I was away (as many noticed) for several weeks. Since it was a weekly challenge I don’t feel it fits within my ethics to jump back in and continue now. That being said I did complete week 45 and just never shared it before my hiatus.

I’m not going to have this week count for those who were “in the challenge,” but I still wanted to share this video. It took a great deal of time, effort, and fitness to work up to planking for this duration. 💪🏻

I am still going to do a final episode to officially “end” the challenge, but I can’t thank everyone enough for sending me so much support and encouragement while I had it together enough to keep it going, which was almost an entire year! 🙌🏻

This was my last consecutive week done back in July … Week 45, 26 Minutes! 🥲 I miss this Shelly who was so determined to plank every week, who was always here, but I am also thankful to be the Shelly who made it back and is still fighting for a life of balance, fun, and something more than work. 💜
